Over 40,000 members of the Scout Organisation registered, including 8,000 IST helpers. The site build was well advanced on arrival at Highlands Park, and the IST contingent arrived on Tuesday 24th of July, while the main membership arrived on Friday 27th.
The opening ceremony was now timed for Saturday afternoon, when we were pleased to see Prince William and the Duke of Kent joining in the celebration.

The World Scout Jamboree
- was a gathering of Scouts from around the world, for 10 days of adventurous activities, memorable events, and international friendship in a campsite big enough to accommodate tens of thousands of young people.
The 21st World Scout Jamboree was hosted by the United Kingdom, in celebration of the Centenary of Scouting taking place at Chelmsford Hylands Park in Essex, from 27th July to 8th August 2007.
The theme of the 21st World Scout Jamboree in 2007 was "One World, One Promise" - which captured the aspirations and hopes of young people for the future. 40,000 young people camped, lived and worked alongside each other, They came from a variety of different cultures, backgrounds, and religions. Together they celebrated what united them, and learn what they could do together to help build a better world.
