Night's Away
General
In place of the old Permission to Camp Form, we now have two Forms that need to be completed for general overnight camping and expeditions. There is the Night's Away Permit needed for the leader of the camp or expedition, and the Night's Away Notification.
Network
A Permit is not required provided that ALL of the Members participating in the event are over 18 years old. However, notification, conveying the information listed on form NAN is required to the County Commissioner - see the next paragraph.
Who to Notify
Scout Network Members are required to notify for all nights away events. The home County/Area Commissioner (or nominee) must be notified where the event is taking place within the County/Area (this should take place at least seven days prior to the event). If the nights away event is taking place outside the County/Area, the District Commissioner of the host District must be notified (this should take place at least fourteen days prior to the event).
