Scouts of the World
Introduction
An exciting opportunity to help give Scout Network members more opportunities to face the challenges of the future by getting them to sign up for our trial 'Scouts of the World Discovery'.
About the Award
The Scouts of the World Award is a special award that shows a young person is aware of world issues and has acquired through a voluntary service the necessary experience and skills to become a citizen of the world.
The award is granted to young people having successfully accomplished a ‘Scouts of the World Discovery’ and ‘Scouts of the World Voluntary Service’.
The Scout Network Working Group will be piloting this award during 2008 and 2009.
A Trial Discovery
The first element of this will be to run a trial Discovery. This will take place between the 31 July and the 3 August 2008. This Discovery will focus on Environmental sustainability. However, there will also be an opportunity to experience a wide range of topics from Conflict Resolution to Project Management.
The Discovery will cost £30.00 per person, fully inclusive of activities, accommodation and food.
Further information
If you would like to take part in this unique opportunity please get in touch with us immediately at scout.network@scout.org.uk
Alternatively, you can contact Tony Cadwallader, as he and Ewan are looking at the possibility of running a project in the County. We are waiting details of criteria and adjudication from Gilwell on this. (April 15th)
